In May 2002 Zion Center for Worship and the Arts, was awarded a Building Youth 2002 $100,000 Grant from the prestigious Foundation for the Carolinas(FFTC) to serve school-age children and youth in their out-of-school time. The name of the program is Dancing Together –A Multi-Cultural Youth Dance Program (DT). Background For over 10 years Teresa Gardner and the Resurrection Dance Ministry have served the residents of their neighborhood community by providing dance presentations and classes as a service to the immigrant, refugee and underserved populations of the Briar Creek Area. The funding provided by the FFTC Building Youth 2002 Grant has made it possible to expand this service to provide a professional year round dance arts enrichment program for sixty students enrolled in Kindergarten through Ninth Grade in the Briar Creek, Central Avenue, Eastway Drive, Grier Heights neighborhoods.
